Today Doug and Somaya are talking about a new planet which might have life.


Have you ever wondered if there is life in outer space?

The discovery of a new planet is causing excitement among astronomers, who think it has conditions suitable for life.

They used an advanced telescope to find the planet, which is over 20 light years away. This is too far away to be photographed clearly, but the artist's impression above shows what it might look like.

They say it is the most similar planet to our own planet, Earth, found outside our solar system so far.

It is a very similar size to Earth, and they believe it may have water on its surface, which increases the chance life could develop there.

So do they think it has life?

Maybe, but nothing like the aliens we see in science fiction.

At the moment they think the most likely life forms would be bugs!
